Hello, my name is Alexander and I am currently studying the Mobile Applications program at Hyper Island.
I am studying at Hyper Island to become a great UI/UX designer. This has been a goal of mine for quite some time.
Before studying at Hyper Island I took an evening course in graphic design at Berghs School of Communication. This is where my interest for the media business really took off.
Other things I like to do is playing basketball, snowboarding or wakeboarding.
I have a new found interest in coding responsive websites and websites in general.
Apart from learning the basics of html in high school, most of my knowledge in this area has been acquired here at Hyper Island and is something I really wish to develop further.
Download this portfolio to your smartphone to get a taste of what I have learned. Or just resize the browser.
I am looking for an internship for the second part of 2012.
If you find my projects and portfolio interesting, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Would like to be at a place where I really get to be a part of the company and the current projects you are working with. Someone to work closely with would be a swell, a mentor.
Hjälpmedelsinstitutet gave us the task to improve everyday life for people with cognitive difficulties through a mobile solution.
After doing research we found out that perceiving time and planning your day is a big problem within this target group.
We created and developed the application Timeless. It works both as a calendar and a day planner. With snazzy design and intuitive interaction we think the end result came out great.
Me and my group worked with this project for approximately two months.
First month: Product manager. I worked with the user interaction and did wireframes.
Second month: Junior developer. This was the developing part of the project. I did some front end development in objective-c. I also made a font of symbols for the application. We use this symbol font instead of images when the user choose a symbol representing the event.
Our goal is to release the application to the appstore in the near future.
To make this possible a few more pieces need to fall in place.
Check out the website for the application here.
This project was give to us by Somewhat. The brief was to make the people of London more aware of the environment.
We chose to make a game which starts of with the London government decides to shut of their energy sources, oil and gas. The player has to recharge London in a more green.
We also developed a campaign around the game which would be released together with the olympics 2012. For example, if the player reach certain objectives in the game he/she will get a free ride with a Barclay bike.
In this project I have been doing design, graphics for the game and developed the concept.
We chose to go with the 8-bit feel of the graphics since it is popular and looks really cool.
To really make the player understand that this is about London we researched the architecture in London and designed some of the landmarks of London, for example the Houses of Parliament.
As I am typing this the project is still ongoing and it is going really well. It has been great working with this kind of graphics, which was the first time for me.
Currently a demo is being developed to show our client a prototype.
The project 72hoursforpeace was a collaboration between Hyper Island and the agency CP+B where all Hyper Island students joined forces for 72 hours to come up with ideas to create world peace for at least one hour.
For 72 hours we worked with this project in mixed groups.
Since this was such a short project and therefor a very tight deadline everyone in the group had to help out with everything.
I worked with both concept development, design and copywriting.
The first day of the project our hashtag, #72hforpeace, became number one in Swedish trends on twitter.
The swedish Minister of Foreign Affairs tweeted about the project, newspapers wrote about it.
Overall it was a very good experience. Really fun to be part of something which turned out to be so great.
Client: SCP Gothenburg
Brief: Help international students at Gothenburg University to explore the life of Gothenburg outside the university
We created an application which helped new international students to find happenings and events in Gothenburg and also where to find nightclubs, shopping and more. The focus in the app is to make it easy for the user to find others who are interested in the same thing.
During this project I was the project manager. My duties was to set up deadlines, make sure the deadlines were kept, update our client and manage the feedback we got from SCP and make sure everyone in the group were on the same page.
Since we had a tight deadline I also helped out with the wireframes and flowchart.
Me and one of the designers presented the product for 40 persons in Gothenburg.
Both my group and our client were very happy about the outcome of the project.
My biggest learning from this project was definitely how to manage a smaller team and that presenting to a big crowd is a piece of cake.
